| Content: | After the success of last year's inaugural Award, Lycetts, a broker specialising in countryside insurance, has in partnership with The Field magazine launched this year's search to find the Young Rural Entrepreneur of the Year. The award celebrates and supports entrepreneurial talent in the countryside at a time of great change, tackling challenges caused by uncertain environmental and market conditions. A £10,000 prize will be presented to an individual or team running a company based in the countryside or making a sustainable contribution to the rural economy or rural communities. Last year, brother and sister Ben and Charlotte Hollins of Fordhall Community Land Initiative and Family Farm jointly won the inaugural award with an enterprising approach to funding and managing the successful conversion of a struggling farm tenancy into a flourishing community owned business venture. Nominations can be submitted by or on behalf of an individual who meets the awards criteria. A panel of judges, including Financial Times journalist and rural commentator Heather McGregor; food entrepreneur Charles Bigham; Jonathan Young, editor of The Field; Angus Keate, chief executive of Lycetts; and Charles Seymour, managing director of Lycetts Rural Division, will see presentations by five shortlisted entrants in London on 9 September. The chosen winner will be announced at a reception on 16th October. |
