Funding opportunities for UK HE / FE to build bi-lateral international partnerships

As part of the Prime Minister’s Initiative, £2million worth of funding opportunities are now available for higher education institutions. The British Council is seeking bids from the UK higher education sector to develop and build bi-lateral international partnerships.

Funding opportunities are available for Higher Education and Further Education to encourage the building of strong sustainable international partnerships. Through the Prime Minister’s Initiative - PMI2 Connect, the British Council will work with governments, education providers and industry in identified countries to build co-operation and partnerships.

Collaborative Programme Delivery grants are intended to provide support to grow lasting partnerships between higher education institutions in the UK and priority countries.

Funding is:
- to encourage the development of joint / dual awards programmes and collaborative programme delivery at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- to strengthen the skills of higher education staff in the techniques of developing international collaborative programmes.

Funding will be for start-up activities, staff development, plus contributions to books, reference and teaching materials and other resources as appropriate. A series of focused practitioner workshops will also be made available for those institutions seeking to grow Collaborative Programme Delivery activities.

Priority countries: PMI2 Collaborative Programme Delivery funding is available to UK applicants for partnerships with HEIs in the following PMI Countries: Vietnam, Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and Ghana.

Application workshops are intended for prospective applicants from UK Institutions who are firmly intending to submit a bid under any part of the Higher Education strand for this year’s application round. Two application workshops will take place:
- London on 12th November 2007
- Manchester on 14th November 2007
The deadline for bids is Friday 14th December 2007.
