First MSc in environmental entrepreneurship |

| Europe's first postgraduate course in Environmental Entrepreneurship is to be launched at Strathclyde. The MSc will give students the skills to launch new ventures, products and technologies to address climate change, promote sustainability and improve environmental quality. It will also meet a growing demand for professionals who can turn environmental ideas into real business opportunities. The course is one of a series of innovative, multi-disciplinary courses being launched this year at the University's David Livingstone Centre for Sustainability in partnership with industry. Professor Robert Kalin, Director of Research at the David Livingstone Centre, said: 'The new courses have been designed to meet an urgent need for expertise in environmental issues across a range of industries. Throughout the European Union and further afield, environmental issues are increasingly being seen as a priority. These new courses aim to equip a new generation with the skills and knowledge required by companies to enable them to compete internationally, in a sustainable way.' The courses are being supported by a multi-disciplinary team of academics from the University, including Civil Engineering, the main sponsor of the David Livingstone Centre for Sustainability; The Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship; the and the Centre for Forensic Science. They also involve extensive industrial collaboration and partnerships with companies, government agencies and NGOs. Each of the courses can be can be undertaken at Masters, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate level. In addition, they can be taken full time (one year) or part-time (two to three years), enabling professionals to continue working while they study.
