| Microsoft, the NCGE and Bournemouth University are making available 30 free places on a Software Entrepreneurship for Students two-day faculty workshop in Bournemouth at the end of June. The event will enable attendees to review and discuss the content of the new nine-module Software Entrepreneurship for Students curriculum developed by Agitavi Research and Microsoft and to assess how this resource – being made available, free, worldwide – can be adapted for use at their universities. The curriculum can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com/education/facultyconnection (search for entrepreneurship curriculum). Business skills are increasingly important for students looking to commercialise a research project or an innovative idea or even just pursue a career in software development, and software entrepreneurs encounter specific challenges in areas like business models and industry value chains that merit special attention. Microsoft, in association with Bournemouth University and the NCGE, would like to bring together educators from computing subjects, ICT and business schools to share experiences of teaching business and entrepreneurship skills to technology students. Those attending this workshop will receive additional case study and presentation materials. Microsoft will cover the cost of the workshop, accommodation at The Orchid Hotel, and food served during the event. Attendees will need to cover the cost of their own transport to and from Bournemouth, and any incidental charges incurred at the hotel. For those travelling a long distance, the conference organisers will enable delegates to stay at the hotel on Sunday night too. Just 30 places are available for the workshop on Monday 23 to Tuesday 24 June and these will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call 0870 166 6687 as soon as possible to reserve your place. The booking line is open 09:30-17:30, Monday to Friday. When this workshop is fully booked, we will add any further requests to a waiting list. If there is sufficient demand we will then consider running another workshop at a later date, and give priority to those on a waiting list for this event. |
