| Now in its sixth year, the Rural Entrepreneurship Conference (REC) was first established in 2002 by the Crichton Centre for Rural Enterprise (CCRE) at the University of Paisley (now the University of the West of Scotland). Each year the Rural Entrepreneurship Conference has provided a growing and popular forum to discuss the latest research and policy developments in rural enterprise. The 2008 REC will held at Crichton University Campus in Dumfries, Scotland from 22-23 May. REC is sponsored and managed by the University of the West of Scotland and the University of Glasgow through the joint-funded CRRED project which benefits from ERDF support. For the 6th Rural Entrepreneurship Conference we would like to invite academics, policy makers and researchers to submit an abstract of no more than 500 words which addresses one or more of the following REC conference themes. Abstracts for the 6th REC should be submitted to Professor David Deakins (david.deakins@uws.ac.uk), indicating the reference number of the main theme. REC will run concurrently with the Centre for Research into Regional Development (CRRED) conference. This conference relates to the research interests of CRRED which is funded by the ERDF and composed of staff from the Universities of Glasgow and Paisley as well as the Scottish Agricultural College. The centre\'s focus is on Small and Medium Enterprises in the key sectors of tourism, farming, renewable energy and forestry, with research investigating sustainability, innovation, competitiveness, synergy, knowledge transfer, networks, marketing and heritage. As in previous years of the REC, selected papers will be reviewed and may be published in the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research. The organisers will particularly welcome submissions on the link between research and policy. |
