| The newly released statistical overview of SMEs in the EU identified 19.6 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the EU-27 non-financial business economy in 2005 (99.8 % of all businesses). Their impact in terms of employment and added value varies substantially between economic sectors and across countries. The importance also varies substantially between the component size class brackets, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. This electronic dataset (31/2008) gives a comprehensive overview of SMEs in the EU, with special focus sections on micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. |
